About the Founder
Hello, I’m Rebecca! I earned my degree in Neuroscience from Columbia University, with a focus on learning and development, and have devoted my career to revolutionizing education. My journey began with Teach for America in 2016, where I taught middle school math in North Carolina before spending seven years teaching math in public and charter schools in New York City. These experiences ignited my passion for ensuring justice and excellence in education.
I’ve learned that the most impactful way to teach math is in small groups, where students receive the personalized attention they need to succeed. This approach became my mission, and I dedicated countless hours to providing extra support to students who needed it most. I found that many academic challenges can be overcome with the right level of individualized attention.
After moving to Los Angeles, I pursued a Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Math. I’ve since helped students achieve remarkable growth—advancing 1.5 to 2 grade levels in just a year—while fostering a deep understanding and love for math. This commitment to personalized, high-impact education led me to create Mathemagician Tutoring. Here, we believe in unlocking every child’s potential by meeting them where they are and nurturing their growth with care and expertise.
